Meet Our Team
JEFERSON
Originally from Brazil, Jeferson has been living and diving in the waters of St Maarten / St martin for over 10 years. Many say that it’s easier to find him under water than on land! He started diving when he was a kid and became the youngest dive instructor ever certified in Brazil. He now has thousands of certified students in all levels, from beginners up to Dive Masters. He may have thousands of dives under his belt but his enthusiasm is still strong in taking his time under water to visit each creature he finds hiding on the reefs and wrecks. His passion is diving and everything related to it; studying the fish behavior, taking photos/filming underwater and being up to date on all things shark related. He is always happy to help with any photography questions or problems. He holds his PADI MSDT Instructor with many distinct specialties; TDI Technical Instructor for Rebreather, Decompression Dives, and Advanced Nitrox to name a few. He is also a First Aid Instructor, a Boat Captain, and STCW 1995 Certified to guaranty everyone’s safety on our boats. His biggest passion over this last 10 years is the SHARK DIVING. Jef is a professional feeder and a close friend to these animals; he loves to share his care for and understanding about sharks with anyone who asks.
LUCIANA
A PADI Dive Instructor for over 15 years and living & diving in St Maarten waters for over 10 years, Luciana specializes in customer care. She divides her time between the dive and making sure the dive shop runs well, she’s our “behind the desk” help and is most likely the person who will be answering your calls and e-mails. Luciana is always keen to get in the water and interact with students and divers whenever she has a chance! Underwater Photography and trying to help with protecting the natural beauty here on St. Maarten are her passions. She has quite a few scuba photos published in several magazines, newspapers and even children books! Her keen passion for the diving world makes her an excellent addition to our team here at Ocean Explorers.
LASZLO
Laszlo came to the island of St Maarten / St Martin in 2004 from Hungary and fell in love with it enough that he has since married and had a baby Girl here. He worked for several years in the service industry and, after becoming a Professional PADI Dive Master, continued living his passion by working at our dive center Ocean Explorers. Safety oriented and passionate about anything and everything that has to do with the Ocean and its creatures, Laszlo pays keen attention to details. It doesn’t matter if you need some advice on diving, scuba gear tips, or just some suggestions of restaurants to go, Laszlo is always happy to give any recommendations he can!
CAYLEY
Born in Canada, Cayley came here with the plan of staying only a month to scuba dive in St Maarten while completing her Dive Master Internship, but she fell in love with the island and the diving and decided to extend her stay. She is a fantastic PADI Dive Master who is attentive to detail, fun, responsible and energetic. We are blessed to have Cayley’s happy attitude and efficiency as part of our dive operation and shop.
As our island paradise grows the shop still remains small and very personal.
